To provide accessible, high-quality healthcare to every member of the community regardless of their means, with compassion and dignity, and to improve the health and wellbeing of the people of Kashmir.

Since 1989, the Imam Hussain (A.S) Foundation has provided accessible, high-quality healthcare to the people of Kashmir, with a focus on underserved and vulnerable communities.
Who we are
What began as a group of volunteers running blood donation camps across Srinagar grew into a hospital for everyone. Today we are a full hospital, a Para Medical Training College and a charitable foundation — still guided by the same promise: no one should go without care.
What guides us
A Kashmir where no family has to choose between their health and their livelihood, and where quality care is within reach of every village and every home.
- CareWe treat every patient with the compassion we would want for our own families.
- IntegrityWe act with honesty and transparency, with patients, donors and each other.
- CommunityWe stand beside the vulnerable, and take care to where people are.
- ExcellenceWe hold ourselves to the highest standards of medicine, and keep improving.

Inscribed on our foundation stone
حُسَيْنٌ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْ حُسَيْنٍ
— Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The hospital carries the name of Imam Hussain (A.S), whose stand for justice and sacrifice for others inspires our service to every patient, whatever their background.
Our journey
- The beginning

Hussaini Blood Bank
Volunteers of the Hussaini Blood Bank organised blood donation camps across Srinagar. The hospital grew out of this work, first as a unit of the blood bank.
- 30 June 1989

The foundation stone
The foundation stone of Imam Hussain (A.S) Hospital was laid in Bemina by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, then Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir.
- Building

A hospital rises in Bemina
On open fields in Bemina, volunteers and supporters came together to build the hospital that stands there today.
- Through the years

Relief where it was needed
Medical relief camps, fire and flood relief, ambulance service and support for orphans and families in need, reaching remote corners of the valley.
- Today

A hospital for everyone
A full hospital with emergency care, a 24/7 blood bank, dialysis, specialist departments, a Para Medical Training College, and charitable care for those in need.
